CREDENTIAL DEFINITIONS

MADRIKH: MOREH TEACHING CERTIFICATE

Madrikh is the foundational teaching credential issued by United Messianic Jewish Ministries. Derived from the Hebrew term meaning “guide” or “leader,” it refers to the credential granted by UMJM. Moreh is the title of the individual recognized to teach under that credential.

The Moreh Teaching Certificate recognizes individuals who have successfully completed the Associate of Arts in Judaic Studies through Kh’rev Torah Yeshiva and fulfilled the educational and ministerial requirements necessary to serve as Messianic Jewish instructors and guides under the authority of UMJM.

Individuals holding Active or Provisional Madrikh status are authorized to teach, mentor, and guide others in accordance with UMJM doctrine, policies, and standards.

This certificate recognizes individuals who have successfully completed the Associate of Arts in Judaic Studies through Kh’rev Torah Yeshiva and fulfilled the educational and ministerial requirements necessary to serve as a Messianic Jewish Instructor and Guide under the authority of UMJM.

Individuals holding Active or Provisional status are authorized to teach, mentor, and guide others in accordance with UMJM doctrine, policies, and standards.

S’MIKHAH: RO’EH ORDINATION

S’mikhah is the formal ordination granted by United Messianic Jewish Ministries. Derived from the Hebrew term meaning “laying on of hands,” it refers to the ordination conferred by UMJM. Ro’eh is the title of the individual ordained to provide spiritual oversight, shepherding, and leadership under that ordination.

The Ro’eh Ordination recognizes individuals who have successfully fulfilled the educational, ministerial, and leadership requirements established by UMJM and have demonstrated the doctrinal knowledge, spiritual maturity, and character necessary to serve in ordained ministry.

Individuals holding Active or Provisional S’mikhah status are authorized to exercise the responsibilities of a Ro’eh in accordance with UMJM doctrine, policies, and standards.

RAV

The office of Rav represents a senior ministerial office within United Messianic Jewish Ministries. Recognition as a Rav incorporates and exceeds the qualifications associated with both the Madrikh Moreh Teaching Credential and the S’mikhah Ro’eh Ordination. Individuals recognized as Ravim are therefore considered to possess the teaching, leadership, and ministerial authorities associated with both credentials unless otherwise specified by the UMJM Beit Din.
